I found a long nail today on the Wilmore roads in memory of Junior Fry.
A couple of weeks ago we had visitors from Pratt, Debbie Boley, her husband and brother and his wife. We showed them our house, the Sears house 1913 and gave them rides on the carousel. Debbie was pretty sure we were related, more like kissing cousins, so she pursued it. Effie Maltby Booth, Debbie’s grandma, was married to Robert Booth, my grandma’s brother, so we are in fact kissing cousins. Thanks for all the info Debby, that was a fun fact.
We had a visitor from Uruguay, South America this week. She was the daughter of a foreign exchange student that lived with Ernie and his family his senior year of high school, so Ernie has known him for a long time. He and his wife have passed so I think she was looking for connections to her parents because she misses them. Her name is Laura Montaldo and she has recently moved from Uruguay to France. She took a job as an economist at a university. She speaks English, Spanish, and French and does a good job in all. She was in Maryland working for 45 days, went to New York for a meeting, decided to come see us in Kansas and return to France by way of Washington, DC. We had a great time and agreed that Kansas looks a lot like Uruguay. Come again.
Update on the vultures: they aren’t all gone yet, a few remain.
Today, Oct. 24 is the first day we received mail from California, that is a full month after our arrival, that is the epitome of snail mail. I will have a talk with them when I return, that is ridiculous.
My take on the movie Verity, from last week was that the popcorn and drink was excellent. It was a little convoluted and worked hard to be a thriller.
We had Ed Grover and granddaughters Cirilla and Ezra at the carousel Friday. We all had a good time. I’m going over next week to see mom Bella’s day care in Protection. She is the girls mother.
Paxton Unruh brought his class to the carousel Friday afternoon, we had 12 or 13 very busy people, but they were well mannered and we had lollipops and cookies. Come again.
Then on Saturday we had a group from the Pratt Senior Center, about 15. They rode the carousel and we did a house tour and then they went off to Daves for pizza. Good plan, come again.
Happy Birthday to me on Monday and Johnita Nystrom of Greensburg on Tuesday. She had a very nice Come and Go on Saturday at the Mennonite church in Greensburg.
Ernie and I and the Timmers attended the Friendship dinner at the Bethel Mennonite Church on Saturday night, good food, good company and great singing. Thanks for having us, see you next week.
