Kyle D. Hoffman held off challenger Herb Landwehr in the Republican primary race for the Kansas State House of Representatives District 116 seat.
Hoffman, the incumbent, won Tuesday’s primary election. In Barber County, he received 467 votes while Landwehr received 408. Throughout the district, Hoffman received 2,534 votes while Landwehr received 1,772.
In the race for the District 1 Barber County commission seat, Mike Roe ran unopposed for the Republican nomination. He received 253 votes.
In the governor’s race, Republican voters in Barber County favored Ty Masterson, who received 406 votes. Masterson went on to win the statewide election. In the Democrat primary, voters narrowly favored Ethan Corson over Cindy Hoschler, with Corson getting 44 votes and Holscher getting 43. Holscher would win the statewide vote to secure the nomination.
For the U.S. Senate race, Roger Marshall won 897 votes in Barber County for the Republican nomination and went on to easily win the statewide race. Barber County voters in the Democrat primary favored Adam Hamilton with 30 votes and he went on to win the statewide race.
For U.S. Representative District 4, Ron Estes secured the Republican nomination across the district. He received 870 votes in Barber County. In the Democrat primary, Katy Tyndell got the most votes in Barber County with 51 and she claimed the nomination across the district.
Vote tallies are unofficial until the Barber County commissioners meet Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. to canvass the votes.
