This year’s enrollment numbers are in and USD 300 has lost several students over last year’s number.
The South Central school district had 280 students from Kindergarten through the 12th grade in 2025 when enrollment numbers were released. This year that number is down to 255. The numbers are based on attendance each year on a certain day in late September. The state of Kansas also uses those enrollment numbers to base state funding regardless of how many students a district may have at any time the remainder of the year. Numbers are based on total head county – exact number of students present on the counting day and then also a full-time equivalent number – which includes special weighting metrics for special education students – is also determined.
In 2026, USD 300 had 29 students in the 10th and 12th grades. Those were the largest two classes followed by 27 freshmen and seventh graders. Twenty fifth graders were in attendence on counting day. The remainder of the grades were: eighth and sixth (19); Kindergarten (15); second, third and fourth (14); and first (11).
