July 8, 2026 regular meeting called to order at 7:30pm.

Approval of Minutes from last regular council meeting held June 12, 2026.

Pool: Molly  

August 6 will be last day the pool will be open; outlet is repaired and working.

Municipal Court:  Shirley

• Court scheduled for July 22 at 5:30pm with following court date in September.

Public Works New Business: 

Approval to purchase a Chlorine injector for the wells at the estimated cost of $ 580.00 plus additional shipping and handling from Salina Supply

Thronesbery donated a pull behind sprayer to the City of Protection.

City Treasurer Report: Shirley • All monthly and quarterly reports completed.

Approval of June 30, 2026 Journal Entry, Petty Cash, Treasurer report, and Bank Statements.

Thursday, July 16, will be a second council meeting to go over 2027 budget along with several other items.  Visitors will be Jonathan and Mikaela Webster regarding Funfest 2026 (August 28-30).

City Clerk Report: Jennifer

• Lead and Copper Samples done and sent to KDHE. Waiting on the reports.

• Working on Second Quarter Water Reports.

• Talked with Advantage about our new firewall and server. Firewall is done and waiting on two parts for the new server.

• Talked with Nathan from Advantage about the website and there were a couple ahead of us and we are next in line should know more next week.

• Talked with AJ Prusa regarding ballfield project.  Work to begin next week and expected to be complete by end of August.

Approval to attend the CCMFOA conference held November 16-18, 2026 in Wichita at the Drury Hotel.

Cost of the classes $485.00. Early reservation for hotel estimated $114-$134 a night.

Water Adjustment: 

Water meter changed out at 208 S. Hays Avenue to rule out bad meter.

There was a leak on West Maple and S. Hays that public works has repaired.

Approval of Claims:  Motion to approve claims for June 13, 2026 through July 8, 2026 in the amount of $ 97,200.87
