Girl’s Tennis Opens Season at Cimarron Tourney

The South Central girl’s tennis team opened its season at a tournament at Cimarron last Thursday.

Fabiola Rivero played No. 1 singles. She beat St. John-Hudson’s Zoey Carter 6-3, lost to Meade’s Taylor Zeibart 6-3 and lost to Cimarron’s Taylor Copper 6-2.

Mia Napierala played No. 2 singles. She beat St. John-Hudson’s Caisalyn Kohl 6-1, beat Meade’s Alejandra Valendzuela, lost to Cimarron’s Drew Kugler 6-3 and lost to Scott Community’s Adalei Zeller by injury default.

Marissa “Max” Miller and Nevaeh Pankrat played No. 1 doubles. They lost to St. John-Hudson’s Lilly McAlister and Avery Younie 6-1, lost to Meade’s Laura Lynn and Sayler Stapleton 6-1 and lost to Cimarron’s Molly Price and Mia Mendez 6-1.

Bonnie Herd and Elsie Herd played No. 2 doubles. They beat St. John-Hudson’s Addison McAlister and Charlotte Kellogg 6-3, lost to Meade’s Rachelle Neely and Addison Tacha 6-0 and lost to Cimarron’s Teryn Ellis and Drew Kugler 6-1.

The Lady Timberwolves were set to play at the South Barber tournament Tuesday, but the meet was postponed because of hot temperatures. South Central is scheduled to attend a junior varsity tournament in Meade Thursday, then a varsity tournament at Pratt this Tuesday, Sept. 9.
