ORDINANCE NO. 2151

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12, ARTICLE I, SECTION 12-101 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF KINGMAN, KANSAS, RELATING TO THE COMPOSITION AND RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS OF THE PARK BOARD.

WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that it is in the best interests of the City to allow limited representation on the Park Board by residents of Kingman County who do not reside within the City limits;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF KINGMAN, KANSAS:

SECTION 1. AMENDMENT.

Section 12-101 of the Code of the City of Kingman, Kansas, is hereby amended to read as follows:

“§ 12-101 PARK BOARD ESTABLISHED.

There is established a Park Board of this city that will consist of seven members who shall serve without compensation. All Park Board members shall be residents of this city, except that up to two members may be residents of Kingman County, Kansas, who do not reside within the city limits. One member shall be the Mayor or a City Commissioner. One member shall be a representative of the USD 331 Recreation Commission. The other five members shall be members at large. The members of the Park Board shall elect a Secretary for a term of one year and a Chairperson for a term of one year.”

SECTION 2. REPEALER.

All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY.

If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unenforceable, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance.

SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE.

This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication as provided by law.
