Mother’s Advancement Club of Protection traveled to Ashland for lunch at Cups and Mugs Restaurant on Thursday, Sept. 3.
Five members gathered to celebrate the anniversary of our 65th year! Only three of the original group are still members. Ruth Bratcher, as one of those, was hostess for the meeting. Other charter members are Melvina Harvey and Marlene Woolfolk.
A garland of colorful leaves and sunflowers centered the table. Sunflower napkins and treats of cookies, decorated with MAC and leaves or pumpkins on each, were at each place setting.
After enjoying the meal, the group congregated at Ruth’s country home for relaxing and visiting.
Ruth Ann gave the treasurer’s report and dues were collected. We examined our little year folders that Jan Maki faithfully makes for us each year.
The roll call was to be a gab session of the “woes and wonders” of growing old! There were many of those, with the woes probably winning out! But there are also many blessings of being retired, enjoying the freedom of sleeping in, eating whenever the need is felt, the blessing of good health, family, and particularly grand kids, and now on to the greats!
It was good to be together again, after the long hot summer, all exclaiming in leaving: “Pray for rain and cooler temperatures!”
Those who were able to be present were: Melvina Harvey, Ruth Ann Jellison, Pat Toneges, Karen Jarnagin, and Ruth Bratcher. Missed were Charlotte Filson, Marlene Woolfolk, and Jan Maki.
