ORDINANCE NO. 2026-2
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 15-221, and Section 15-428, of the Code of the city of protection, Kansas, AMENDING THE MONTHLY CHARGES FOR WATER AND SEWER SERVICE; and REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 2025-4.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF PROTECTION, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. AMENDMENT OF SECTION 15-221 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PROTECTION: That Section 15-221 of the Code of the City of Protection, Kansas, adopted pursuant to Ordinance No. 501 of the City of Protection, Kansas, is hereby amended to read as follows:
15-221. WATER SERVICE RATES. The monthly charge for water service, for residential and commercial customers, beginning on September 1, 2026, shall be as follows:
1. Minimum monthly water service charge of $22.00 per month for the first 1,000 gallons of water usage.
2. $3.00 per 1,000-gallon unit of water usage, in excess of the first 1,000 gallons of water usage, units billed in 1,000 gallon increments.
SECTION 2. AMENDMENT OF SECTION 15-428 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PROTECTION: That Section 15-428 of the Code of the City of Protection, Kansas, adopted pursuant to Ordinance No. 501 of the City of Protection, Kansas, is hereby amended to read as follows:
15-428. SEWER SERVICE RATES. The monthly charge for sewer service, for residential and commercial customers, beginning on September 1, 2026, shall be as follows:
1. Minimum monthly sewer service charge of $17.00 per month for the first 1,000 gallons of water usage.
2. $2.50 for each 1,000-gallon unit of water usage, in excess of the first 1,000 gallons of water usage, units billed in 1,000 gallon increments.
SECTION 2. REPEAL OF ORDINANCE NO. 2025-4: That Ordinance No. 2025-4 of the City of Protection, Kansas, and all other ordinances, parts of ordinances, and Articles or Sections of the Code of the City of Protection, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication in the official City newspaper.
