Pool: Molly
Nathan Welsh donated the time to install the basketball goals for the pool and kids are having a lot of fun with them. A night swim is schedule for Saturday June 13, 2026. PVM coming Tuesday and Friday evenings to swim.
Police: Devon
Had a safety event last year and would like to do again this year in July – hot dogs, fire/EMS. Grant funding would pay for cross walk paint, flashing sign by crosswalk (park to pool), etc. Matching funds of $2,000 needed by City.

Municipal Court: Shirley
Court was on May 27 at 5:30pm. Tickets were only items on docket. Next court date is July 22 (currently no court scheduled in June).
New Meters:
• David Leckner and co-worker with D. C. & B. Supply, Inc. (Pratt) here to visit with Danny regarding their meters. Dropped by City Hall to introduce themselves. Listing of addresses for City and Rural Water have been sent for their review.
• Tony with Schultze will be here Thursday, June 18th, at 11:30 to go over regarding interfacing with their meters. Also, will be bringing meters for trial run.
Public Works New Business:
• Discussion on asphalt saw, filter system at pool, copper sulfate, and new filter in pool vacuum.
• Lift station: Had to pull pumps. Need hour meters – would show total gallons and gallons per minute on pump. Pump that shorted out has been fixed and returned.
• Discussed possible selling of surplus equipment.
Approval of Hickman Environment for cleaning sewer lift stations $1,314/yearly.

• Schedule for 2027 Budget starting next week.
• Received check from Comanche County Treasurer for $60,023.05.

Approval of Resolution on Dangerous Structure located at 208 W. Main Street. Notice of hearing currently scheduled for August 19, at 6:30pm at the Library.

City Clerk Report: Jennifer
• Consumer Confidence Report was mailed to 34 Rural Water customers. City had 256 mailed – enclosed June billing cards and several that don’t receive bills (ie Centennial Court residents).
• Having trouble with water samples getting too hot prior to receipt at testing company. Have purchased small freezer packs (96/box for $22). Hoping the use of these rather than ice will help keep us from having to redo samples (save time, effort, mailing, etc.).
• Next month, going to try with sending monthly samples to KDHE rather than driving them to Dodge to Servi Tech. UPS has created issues with sending samples to Servi Tech.
• Received confirmation from KDHE to go ahead with sampling for Lead & Copper.
Updated emergency water plan since change of workers and phone numbers.

Discussing a possible Interlocal agreement among the City of Protection, City of Wilmore, City of Coldwater, Comanche County, and other county entities to cooperate on economic development to attract businesses or people to Comanche County.
