Protection Man Arrested on Suspicion of Copper Theft

Protection resident Eric Boyles has been arrested by the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office after an estimated 500 pounds of what officials suspect as stolen copper materials was seized from the residence following the execution of a search warrant recently.

Boyles was booked into the Kiowa County Jail on “requested charges of felony theft and burglary,” according to a post made on social media by the sheriff’s office.

The CCSO also reminded local residents to be diligent as the price of copper and other metals have continued to increase in price.

“Please pay particular attention to vacant residences, farmsteads, outbuildings, construction sites, and other properties that may be unattended for extended periods. If you observe suspicious activity around these locations, contact the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office,” the statement said.
