Fire Slightly Damages House in Protection

Protection’s fire department made quick work of a blaze at a local residence last Thursday evening, June 25.

Chief Brian Harris and some of his crew found a fire that had started when the vent on an electric clothes dryer was plugged at 311 South Washington Avenue after responding to a 911 call.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and moved the damaged appliance outside. Harris said smoke had accumulated in the rest of the house, but he felt it wasn’t thick enough to cause major damage. There was some damage in the laundry room, but it was also minor.

No one in the home at the time of the fire was injured.

Comanche County Fire Chief Greg Ellis and some of his crew also answered the call and brought several pieces of equipment from Coldwater, but none were needed, but CCFD did respond to a Coldwater fire on Monday afternoon.
