US Stocks Slip on Earnings, Slower Growth

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are closing slightly lower after the U.S. government said economic growth slowed more than expected in the summer.

Companies including Buffalo Wild Wings and camera maker GoPro plunged Thursday after reporting weak earnings.

The drug company Allergan rose sharply after it confirmed it has held talks with rival Pfizer about a sale.

The Dow Jones industrial average slipped 23 points, or 0.1 percent, to 17,756.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index fell a point to 2,089. The Nasdaq composite gave up 21 points, or 0.4 percent, to 5,074.

Bond prices fell. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 2.17 percent.
