NEW YORK (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton says former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush doesn’t understand the plight of American workers, telling supporters in an economic speech, “They don’t need a lecture. They need a raise.”
Clinton says lifting incomes for hard-working Americans is the defining economic challenge of the nation. The Democratic presidential front-runner is pointing to Bush’s recent comments in New Hampshire when the Republican presidential candidate said, “People need to work longer hours.”
Clinton is also criticizing other leading Republican presidential contenders. She is questioning Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s tax proposals and says Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has made his name “stomping” on the rights of workers.
Clinton is laying out her economic agenda Monday as Democratic voters are being wooed by her chief rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
