Hawkins Attends Annual SHL Meeting in Topeka

TOPEKA – The Kansas Silver Haired Legislators held their 2015 organizational meeting on Tuesday in Topeka.

The meeting was for election of officers and executive board for the next two years. The executive board is comprised of representatives from each of the 11 planning and service areas in the state, which align with the regions of Area Agencies on Aging. Eileen Hawkins is the representative for 10 counties in south central Kansas, including Kingman County.

The Silver Haired Legislature was created in 1969 by an act of Congress and was designed to identify issues important to adults 60 and older, educate Legislators on those issues, and participate and be involved as advocates for senior citizens.
