{"id":104104,"date":"2026-08-06T09:16:54","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T15:16:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kcnonline.com\/wp\/?p=104104"},"modified":"2026-08-06T09:16:55","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T15:16:55","slug":"children-beat-the-clock-during-local-vbs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kcnonline.com\/wp\/2026\/08\/06\/children-beat-the-clock-during-local-vbs\/","title":{"rendered":"Children &#8216;Beat the Clock&#8217; During Local VBS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>By Katee Underwood, Staff Writer<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Children spent the week learning, creating and working together during Vacation Bible School at The First Christian Church, where this year\u2019s theme reminded them that God\u2019s timing and plan are perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seventeen children participated in the weeklong event, with help from five junior high and high school volunteers, along with numerous adult volunteers who helped lead activities and make the program possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s theme, \u201cBeat the Clock,\u201d focused on trusting God\u2019s timing and following His plan. Throughout the week, children took part in games, snacks, crafts and escape rooms where they solved puzzles and clues to move through each challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe kids have loved it,\u201d organizers said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The theme verse for the week was Isaiah 41:10: \u201cSo do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each day focused on a different lesson from the Bible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the first day, \u201cTime to Begin,\u201d children learned about Noah and how God delivered him and his family through the flood. The lesson focused on how God can also deliver people from sin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second day, \u201cTime to Live,\u201d focused on Daniel and his faithfulness to God, even when he was thrown into the lions\u2019 den. Children learned that God provides for His people and offers salvation through Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During \u201cTime to Stand for Jesus,\u201d children studied the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who stood firm in their faith despite facing the fiery furnace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fourth day, \u201cTime to Go,\u201d focused on Jonah and how God guides people when they choose to follow Him. Children learned that God offers second chances and calls people to trust His direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The final day, \u201cTime is Now,\u201d encouraged children to make the decision to follow God.
