{"id":102669,"date":"2026-06-18T08:48:20","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T14:48:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kcnonline.com\/wp\/?p=102669"},"modified":"2026-06-18T08:50:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T14:50:16","slug":"lahmeyer-ends-congressional-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kcnonline.com\/wp\/2026\/06\/18\/lahmeyer-ends-congressional-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Lahmeyer Ends Congressional Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>By Emma Murphy, Oklahoma Voice<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OKLAHOMA CITY \u2014 The day after he advanced to a runoff election, Jackson Lahmeyer abruptly ended his campaign for a seat in the U.S. House representing Oklahoma\u2019s First Congressional District.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Donald Trump had previously endorsed Lahmeyer, but&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116766840824918491\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced on Truth Social<\/a>&nbsp;on Wednesday afternoon that he had shifted his endorsement to his Republican opponent, state Rep. Mark Tedford.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump posted his endorsement switch just minutes before Lahmeyer announced he was suspending his campaign for the Tulsa-area seat.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAfter prayerful consideration with my wife, Kendra, and my team over the last twenty four hours, I\u2019ve made the difficult decision to suspend my campaign for Congress,\u201d Lahmeyer&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JacksonLahmeyer\/status\/2067314474076266553\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posted on social media<\/a>. \u201cI do not want to be a distraction to my family, my church, and the great people of Oklahoma\u2019s 1st Congressional District, who deserve a strong conservative voice representing them in Washington.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Sunday, Lahmeyer posted a statement on Facebook that he had crossed \u201ca boundary line through text messaging.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis matter was already dealt with privately between me and my wife, Kendra, through counsel and prayer with God and spiritual advisors,\u201d Lahmeyer&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jacksonrlahmeyer\/posts\/pfbid0R4HndGreR2hmd4ZzsjkJ3twDUxErv6A9AKM4dT89rMDpsdpdJcPgNC1mUbxAEjA6l?rdid=sfjVq9P6LbHVwBMN#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posted<\/a>. \u201cI own crossing a boundary line through text messaging. I also ended all communication.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lahmeyer and Tedford on Tuesday advanced from a crowded field of challengers to advance to a Republican runoff on Aug. 25.
